Michael Echekoba

Michael Echekoba, born in East Dulwich, London, has developed extensive experience as a painter and multimedia artist. His artistic journey began at the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), where he completed an OND and HND in Fine Art, specialising in life drawing, painting, and graphic design. He furthered his education with a Diploma in Multimedia from the London College of Communication and a PGCE (LL: DTLLS) in Art and Design from the University of Greenwich.

Throughout his career, Michael has garnered acclaim for his achievements, including awards such as the Head of Department’s Award for Best Student in Life Drawing and Painting during his OND studies and the IMT Award for Best Student in Graphics Design upon completing his HND. In 2003, he was honoured as the Royal Commonwealth Young Artist of the Year.

Michael actively contributes to esteemed art organisations, including the Nigerian Society of Artists and the Nigerian Society of Art UK. He held significant roles as a design and print consultant at LTC Advertising Agency and Kinkos before establishing himself as a self-employed Artist, Designer, and Teacher.

Michael’s artistic contributions are marked by numerous exhibitions worldwide, encompassing both solo and group shows. His solo exhibitions, such as “The Way We Are” and “The Dawn,” delve into cultural themes and contemporary issues with depth and creativity.

Continuing to engage with the art community, Michael participates in exhibitions such as “Nigeria at 100” and “Ariya: A Celebration of Colour”, organised by the Nigeria Art Society UK. His unwavering commitment to artistry and education underscores his dedication to fostering creativity and cultural dialogue through his impactful work, inspiring others to do the same.
